"Jeremy was here to welcome us and show us around. What a wonderful reception and we much enjoyed his sense of humour. Everything we could possibly need was provided - including some swim shorts for [husband] to wear in the hot tub! The information provided in the green folder is full and comprehensive - the only info missing was hot tub dress code! The cottage is lovely and so comfortable and the garden is just wonderful. We saw the does and two fawns and a young male with antlers. Such a joy! Perfection." 3 October 2025

"A wonderful stay in a beautiful cottage and gardens, watching a family of four deer on the grass and eating Jeremy's plants. Just could sit on the patio or the hot tub and watch the many types of birds and squirrels forever. Add this to the visits to Chatsworth, Haddon Hall, Bakewell (yes, we did buy a tart) Matlock and Matlock Bath. Brilliant. Is this not the epitome of England. Could not ask for a better holiday. PS charge your phones as you'll be taking lots of photos of the deer and birds." 9 September 2025

"Prior to arrival, we were provided with excellent, personalised directions. This personal approach continued with a warm welcome and a friendly chat. We spoke about some planned sights and appreciated the support of local knowledge. The comfort of the accommodation was matched by the surroundings. During our stay, we enjoyed seeing the local birds we had lunch watching the deer in the garden on our final evening a hedgehog arrived to say hello . "Great accommodation! This is perfect for a great get-away. Surrounding area first class for walking if that's your thing. Lovely hot tub and great hosts, available if you need them. "Our third visit here in less than a year, so we must like it. The [courtyard] was completed just as we got here and compliments duly paid to [x]. Look forward to working water feature when we come back again. As usual evenings in the hot tub were great and saw the Space X rocket fuel jettison which was impressive. Also saw eleven of the deer by the birdfeeder this morning. 28 March 2025.

"Enjoyed our return visit (which was actually booked before our first trip). Had a great 60th birthday visit to Chatsworth. Enjoyed some good walks – particularly Dove Valley from Hartington. If it's a rainy day and you like cars we can thoroughly recommend the Great British Car Journey, only 20 mins away and really interesting. As usual the hot tub was a lovely way to spend the evening. We hope to return next year." 9 December 2024

"Thank you Jeremy and Kathryn for a lovely break. The cottage is beautiful. The attention to detail is amazing with all the little extras. Thank you for the lovely welcome pack. The Cottage location is perfect for everything and the hot tub was an extra after a long day seeing the sites your 'tips and advice' guide is very factual, humorous as well. Would definitely recommend Chatsworth Christmas. It's just amazing. Thank you Jeremy for the heads up on every visit: Bakewell, Heights of Abraham, Buxton Town, Haddon Hall at Christmas - all well worth a visit and if you enjoy ice hockey Sheffield Steelers is a great game but tickets need to be pre-booked. Last but not least Buxton Crescent Spa and treatment is out of this world, so relaxing and a great way to end our holiday We would love to return again to your amazing hidden gem, with dear roaming freely in the garden and squirrels and birds in abundance." 29 November 2024

"We have enjoyed a few days staying in this lovely cottage. With thanks to Jeremy + Kathryn for being such welcoming hosts and for the welcome gifts. You have equipped the cottage thoughtfully and comfortably. Despite somewhat gloomy weather forecasts, we have walked quite a lot and visited Bakewell, Castleton (Treak Cliff Cavern and Peak Cavern) and Haddon Hall without getting wet! We have eaten at the Square and Compass, The Three Stags Heads and Viva in Matlock" 9 October 2024

"We have had the perfect relaxing retreat this week at church cottage. Obviously we enjoyed the hot tub! We were thrilled to have seen the local deer, 4!!!! Followed Jeremy's recommendations of Bakewell before lunch as it does get busy with traffic. Chatsworth is a must and a full day out, as well as Haddon Hall. "We had such a lovely holiday at church cottage, everything we needed was provided and it was the perfect base for a tiring but relaxing holiday. We crammed so much into our week, including two circular walks, cycled the Monsal Trail to Bakewell, Heights of Abraham, Buxton and visited some lovely surrounding villages. Love the Cottage, area, the deer, and the birds. We saw a spotted woodpecker on the feeder, which was a bonus! We had an excellent meal at Stones restaurant and thank you very much to Jeremy for giving us a lift so we could have a lovely drink. The cottage is perfect and the hot tub is such a lovely addition after a long walk/cycle. We've enjoyed the meals at the Three Stags and over at the Druid Inn at Birchover. Don't miss going up behind the pub to the Druids' caves. The bed/bedding provided is amazing. "Amazing Cottage with every need catered for. Booked a last-minute 2-night stay as a birthday celebration and were welcomed with champagne, wine plus cream tea. Our first visit to the Peak District and Church Cottage has been a fantastic home for the week. We were lucky enough to see the deer on a number of occasions and have really enjoyed watching the birds on the feeders. After a lot of hiking each day, the hot tub has been really welcoming! "It has been a complete delight to stay here. Jeremy and Kathryn have equipped the cottage to a very high standard and really could not have been more welcoming.
Welcome goodies, included wine, scones, cream and jam and truffles, were much appreciated The ability to charge our electric car at the house, saved us spending time finding chargers. The hot tub was a welcome soothing experience after a long walk.
The beds and furniture were all very comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped and the shower great. The deer visiting the garden, especially the fawn, was wonderful to see.

"From the start, Jeremy and Kathryn have been extremely helpful + accommodating hosts. Church Cottage is a lovely peaceful place to explore the Peak District, with a hot tub to relax in when you return. Everything is very high quality, great shower and v. comfortable bed. We saw the deer most mornings before setting off to explore. We visited Chatsworth, hired bikes to cycle along the Monsal Trail, walked along Chee Dale and Bamford Edge and visited Cromford Mill. The walk from the cottage to Matlock over Oker Hill is lovely. We are sure once word gets out about Church Cottage, it will be fully booked all year. "Wow what a lovely find, especially as we were one of the first to stay. Excellent welcome goodies, especially local wine and to celebrate are new king celebrations champagne truffles amongst other treats. Loved relaxing in the lounge looking at the endless array of birds feeding (which our host Jeremy kept the feeders topped up). Saw and heard the Cuckoo and had visits from the deer most nights. Everything in the property was of high quality, shower excellent and bed very comfy. Had lovely walks, Heights of Abraham, which you can go up and down on the cable car. Chatsworth is a must and the garden centre does lovely lunches. Also Carsington Water was easy underfoot circular walk 7.5miles and the restaurant served nice meals.
